Most of us are either using…or feeling pressure to use social media in some way to grow both our brand and our businesses, but find it challenging to generate a return on investment from our efforts. In fact, many organizations assume that their Millennial employees, who are known for being adept at using social media in their personal lives, will lead the way in terms of a taking a revolutionary approach to growing their top-line through social media. Using social media platforms to successfully grow a business and promote your brand is not so much about fluency, but consistency.

During this interactive and dynamic session, Wendy Merrill of StrategyHorse Consulting Group, and Brittany Floyd of Social Driver will share there own experiences and tips on how to most effectively use LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter as powerful tools for positioning and growing your brand and your company. Wendy and Brittany have organically built a powerful thought leadership platforms by strategically utilizing social media as a highly effective business development tool. Participants will walk away with a list of key questions and action items to help them plan their own social media strategy and measure its impact.

Wendy Merrill has had a successful business development career spanning over 23 years. Her strategic and methodical approach to cultivating and leveraging relationships has allowed her to construct a rich network of resourceful professionals, and help others do the same. Wendy has advised professional and financial services firms, banks, non-profits, manufacturing companies, real estate professionals and significant players in the technology space on how to secure their future growth. Wendy’s practice incorporates common sense, humor and absolute honesty to prepare ambitious younger professionals to carry their organizations into the future. Wendy sits on the advisory board for the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Industrial and Organizational Psychology Department and is a proud winner of the 2016 Greater Baltimore Committee’s Bridging the Gap Award for supporting and empowering women and minorities in business. Brittany Floyd is a seasoned digital strategist with over eight years of experience building, executing, and leading successful digital and social media strategies. Working with clients ranging from startups to high-profile national associations to Fortune 100 companies, including Ford Motor Company, she knows that the best-in- class digital campaigns are fully integrated campaigns. Through digital integration, strong branding, and great storytelling, she leads clients from ideation to successfully exceeding their most challenging business goals. In her current role, she is responsible for heading a team of specialists in digital, analytics, content and creative to ensure client success as the Director of Social and Digital Media at Social Driver.
 
Prior to rejoining Social Driver, Brittany was immersed in the “big PR world” as Manager of Digital Strategy for consumer and brand clients at WPP’s Burson-Marsteller. As a self proclaimed leading digital advocate she has a history of disrupting organizations to prioritize digital as part of their marketing and communications strategies. In her first job following college, she convinced the CEO to move her from customer service to the new position she had proposed they create, Social Media Specialist. More recently, in 2016, she began serving on the Board of Directors for Washington Women in Public Relations as the Marketing Communications Chair. A year later, she assumed their first-ever Digital Strategy board position, which has now grown to two positions. Currently, she serves as the WWPR Strategic Planning chair to create operational efficiencies, encourage cross-chair collaboration and increase brand awareness to grow the WWPR community to better cultivate and inspire female communicators.
