Join the WIT Women Business Owners Special Interest Group (WBO SIG), and Young Professionals for an evening of designing your start-up idea and entrepreneurial networking. During this interactive and dynamic seminar, you will be guided through the A, B, C’s of how to launch your start-up idea. As an important piece of your entrepreneurial journey, you will identify your value proposition, leverage your network to create your (MVP) minimal Viable Product and walk away with a strategy for launch.

This session will provide a jump start on putting clarity around your vision and goals through an interactive Q & A with leaders in the field of start-ups at the esteemed American University’s Center for Innovation, a start-up incubator. Each attendee will leave the session with a plan of action for their emerging idea.

You will have a one-on-one opportunity with Tina Gantz, CEO and founder of Global Franchise Associates, Robin McDougal, CEO e-GLAM, Inc, Siri Terjesen, PhD and Director of AU Center for Innovation and Swathi Young, Founder of TechNotch Solutions. 



The seminar includes dinner, networking, featured panelist, and working sessions. 


The sessions are designed to be interactive and educational with take-away action items for next steps. This seminar will follow the agenda outline below:

Speakers

Tina Gantz is CEO and founder of Global Franchise Associates, a boutique franchise brokerage and consulting firm that teaches people how to buy and sell franchises. Tina is a serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of diverse business experience in Fortune 500s, non-profits and the small business community. In the last 14 years, Tina has bought, built, operated and sold franchised and independent companies. Tina’s passion is helping small business owners succeed on a massive scale by sharing her franchise expertise and the continuing success strategies needed to remain competitive in today’s challenging business environment.



Robin McDougal, CEO of e-GLAM, Inc. a technology accessories company and the 2017-2019 Chair of Women Business Owner, a Special Interest Group of Women in Technology. After starting a business with pocket change and a dream, she has learned first-hand that there is a difference between running a small business and steering a thriving enterprise. Entrepreneur and advocate for women pursuing careers in STEM, in 2014, she founded The Pearl Project Institute for Innovation in STEM Literacy a not-for profit dedicated to increasing women in STEM careers especially in aerospace.

Siri Terjesen, PHD and Director of American University's Center for Innovation.Dr. Siri Terjesen is Dean's Research Fellow in Entrepreneurship at American University’s Kogod School of Business and Director of the AU Center for Innovation. Concurrently she is a Professor .2 at the Norwegian School of Economics (Norges Handelshøyskole: NHH) in Bergen, Norway. Her research on entrepreneurship, corporate governance, and strategy has been published in leading journals such as Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Operations Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and Strategic Management Journal, and featured in leading media including Bloomberg, US News & World Report, the Times, Huffington Post, and CNBC.

Swathi Young is the founder of TechNotch Solutions, a product management, and technology strategy consulting company. In her 15+ years of technology experience, she has led 100+ projects globally - Belgium, India and the United States for companies like Amtrak, GE, Oracle and SunGard. She helped launched web, mobile and SaaS applications that brought in revenue of over $300 million. She is slightly obsessed with using emerging technologies like AI, Blockchain, VR/AR, IoT etc. to solve interesting problems. This led her to be the founder of DC Emerging Technologies, a 1500+ member strong community of innovators in technology and business. She is also the founder of Startupdevlabs, where she helps startups bring their awesome ideas to market in 90 days using her proven  "Lean Value Launch" methodology.
