Describe your industry experience:
Accomplished senior executive public, nonprofit, and private sectors regionally, nationally and internationally. Works across sectors including transportation, public health, research and homeland security/emergency management.  Served on Presidential Transition Team 2008, in academia, as a political appointee and civil service in regional, state, and the federal government.  Member, National Academy of Science Research Panels relating to climate change and nuclear nonproliferation. Counsel, board member, and advisor to more than 70 nonprofits. Lecturer at more than 30 universities and research appointments at 3 universities.

Describe your functional experience:
Illustrative experience includes: COO and CEO of Research and Special Programs Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation; with responsibility for $500M budget, 2000 employees and contractors, ten regional offices, a national lab and national safety training institute, federal transportation research agenda,  university transportation center program, and federal transportation emergency management; Executive Director regional transportation agency with financial management responsibility for $300 million annually in federal and state grant funds as gas tax revenue; forged a partnership with state department of transportation to manage toll revenues from an Interstate highway; legal counsel for domestic and international businesses on regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters. Served as lead in crisis management and communication during natural and industrial accidents and other related events.

Skill in setting goals in collaboration with others and overseeing implementation of innovative strategies to realize organizational mission and goals especially related to complex technical products and services. Experienced and expert at twin skills of consensus building and constructive dissent.
