Women in Technology’s The Leadership Foundry Positions Candidates for Success

Maria Izurieta leverages participation in The Leadership Foundry to obtain board seat.

FAIRFAX (May 11, 2016) – Maria Izurieta is the latest alum of Women in Technology’s The Leadership Foundry to be appointed to a corporate board. Ms. Izurieta, a 2013 graduate of The Leadership Foundry, serves as Audit Committee Chair on the board of exactEarth, a Canada-based company, which provides location-based information to the global maritime industry.

Ms. Izurieta brings a strong financial background to exactEarth with over 20 years of strategic and financial management experience in key executive positions in both emerging and publicly‑traded technology companies. She is the Chief Financial Officer at 3Pillar Global, and has been the Chief Executive Officer (acting) and Chief Financial Officer of Wireless Matrix, Chief Financial Officer at VIPdesk, and Vice President of Finance and Administration for CyberCash, Inc.

‘’Through my experience as a CFO, I understood the role of a board member and what it meant to serve on a board. The Leadership Foundry helped me to plan a strategic search for a board seat,” said Izurieta. The Director Professional training, presented by the National Association of Corporate Directors, was a particularly helpful element of The Leadership Foundry’s program aimed at enhancing Izurieta’s understanding of corporate governance.

About The Leadership Foundry
The Leadership Foundry was launched in 2011 by Women in Technology (WIT) to prepare more women to serve on corporate boards in the Washington D.C. area. The program provides intensive board training sessions as well as formal and informal networking and mentoring opportunities to assist women in obtaining their first corporate board seat.
